Fans of Britain's Got Talent were taken by surprise on Tuesday night when they spotted a Hollywood actor amongst the audience of the BGT's semi-final – and it was none other than Gladiator star Russell Crowe. Fans of the hit show immediately took to Twitter to share their surprise at seeing him amongst other members of the audience and questioning his presence.
"What I want to know is what is Russell Crowe doing in the #Bgt audience," one wrote. Whilst another one said: "Why is @russellcrowe watching #BGT? Why do I find this strange? My brain can't process this." A third commented: "@BGT Just clocked Russell crowe in audience at first I thought it was Ricky Tomlinson."
Some even commented on his new look, which doesn’t seem to be a hit with his fans: "@russellcrowe Rusty , you are getting a Jack Thompson look about you these days!" Another one said: "@BGT was that Russell Crowe in the audience. The Beardy man ????"

The Hollywood actor wasn't in the audience by himself, but accompanied by two very well know British stars, Samantha Barks and Jimmy Carr. Samantha and Russell have been friends since 2012 and even co-starred together in the film Les Miserables in 2013 so the duo were no doubt present to support fellow Les Mis star Alfie Boe, who was performing during the ITV results show.
The star had teased earlier in the day he was attending the BGT semi-final by sharing a picture from inside the Hammersmith Apollo, where the show was held, and partly showing David Walliams' name on the stage. "Where am I now?" he captioned the snap.

Following the show, judge David Walliams posed for pictures with the three stars, much to the delight of fans. "Amazing guests at @BGT tonight. @russellcrowe @jimmycarr @SamanthaBarks," he captioned the shot which showed the four of them smiling at the camera. He also shared a snap of him just with the Hollywood star: "Mr @russellcrowe is here!" he wrote alongside it.
