Will there be a series three of Motherland?

In a word: yes! The popular comedy was recommissioned for a third series shortly before series two dropped in October 2019. Shane Allen, the controller of comedy commissioning at the BBC, said of the show at the time: "We want more and we want it as soon as possible. This is a show that will run for as long as the team are able to keep making it and is the easiest commissioning decision this side of renewing Coronation Street."

Series two came out in October 2019

It's not yet confirmed when fans can expect a third series, particularly with restrictions and social distancing implications as a result of coronavirus. But here's hoping we don't have to wait too long!

What is Motherland about?

Series one, currently available on Netflix, introduces Julia, Liz and Amanda - a gang of mum's all navigating home, work and social lives, along with helpless, people pleasing stay-at-home-dad Kevin. The group find themselves juggling moments such as school fundraisers, sports day, and swimming classes – and you won't be disappointed with the level of humour.

Perfect Saturday morning (PS if you haven’t seen Motherland watch it - it’s brilliant!)." A second person wrote: "Stressed out mums if you haven't watched Motherland on Netflix, do. Hilarious!" while a third added: "Delighted last night to find that the first series of Motherland is now on #Netflix. Loved season two on the BBC but completely missed the show first time around. That's this week's viewing sorted then.

Playing the lead Julia is Anna Maxwell Martin – who is known for her roles in Line of Duty and Bleak House. Starring alongside her is comedian and After Life actor Diane Morgan as Liz, Hot Fuzz and Ella Enchanted star Lucy Punch and Bodyguard actor Paul Ready as Kevin.
