The Crown season four will land on Netflix in November, and we couldn't be more excited to check in with Olivia Colman's Queen in the 1980s.

Prince Charles and Diana's royal wedding

The trailer has already revealed that the series will cover Prince Charles and Diana's iconic wedding, but we can't wait to see the historic event dramatised. The series will look at Charles and Diana's early relationship, including their courtship and welcoming their two sons, William and Harry. Speaking of...

The births of Princes William and Harry

According to onset photos, the series really is catching up with modern-day as the younger generation of royals, namely Prince William and Prince Harry, make their debut on the series as youngsters. The snaps appear to be recreating an Easter Egg hunt at Buckingham Palace, which doubtless will delve more into the relationship between Charles and Diana.

It's a Royal Knockout

In 1987, Prince Edward appeared a royal version of the show It's a Knockout alongside the Duke and Duchess of York and Princess Anne, who played with teams of celebrities. The one-off show was done for charity and was reportedly done against the Queen's wishes. The show wasn't a success, but we'd love to see the royal attempt to delve into television.

The Queen's fake assassination attempt

The Queen might have all of the security she could ever need, but she still managed to be the subject of a fake assassination attempt during Trooping the Colour in 1981. Six blank shots were fired by a teenager, Marcus Sarjeant, who was charged for treason following the false alarm.

The Queen vs Maggie Thatcher

Gillian Anderson will play Margaret Thatcher, and from what we've seen so far, she's going to absolutely nail the role. The Queen and the first woman Prime Minister were reportedly at loggerheads over the economy, miners' strike and rioting during the time, and we think that their relationship, like the Queen's in previous series' with Winston Churchill and Harold Wilson, is going to be a fascinating one to watch.

Micheal Fagan's breaks into the Queen's bedroom at Buckingham Palace

There was a major breach of security at Buckingham Palace in 182 after an intruder, Michael Fagan, managed to break into the Queen's bedroom with no one noticing while she slept. He previously told the Mirror: "I walk past her bed and it looks too small to be the Queen. So I go over and draw the curtain back, just to make sure, and suddenly she sat up." While it was reported that Her Majesty calmly spoke to Michael as her security arrived, he has since denied it, saying: "She went past me and ran out of the room; her little bare feet running across the floor."

The Queen vs Ronald Reagan

The Queen was reportedly furious when Ronald Reagan, who had previously enjoyed a royal visit to Windsor Castle in 1982, ordered an invasion of Grenada, one of her realms in the Caribbean, without informing her. Can we expect some of that cold fury from Olivia Colman? We certainly hope so!
