Michael, 71, has starred in a couple of projects following the end of the series, including the BBC and Amazon Prime Video show The Collection as Frederic Lemaire. He also appeared in Brian Pern: A Tribute.
Michael is best known for playing the famous detective
Michael opened up about how the hit show was the defining moment of his career back in 2013, telling Tellyspotting: "It’s certainly defined the last ten years because I’ve done little else. This isn’t a complaint; having enjoyed the 30 previous years avoiding definition, it’s a privilege to be able to wait for projects that 100 per cent fulfil the criteria, of which there have been, theatre and radio aside, perhaps only about six. All worth the wait."

Fans would certainly love the actor to return to the role of Foyle, particularly since Foyle's War was voted by RadioTimes as the show viewers most want back on their screens, but the series creator, Anthony Horowitz has previously said that "ITV have already said no".

He also told Radio Times: "I'd certainly be up for a Christmas special or two if anybody asked." At the time of cancellation, he told Digital Spy: "It had to come to an end sometime. We went from 1940 all the way through to 1947 – and I told countless true stories about the war. I felt that there were no more true stories to tell about that period, I’d sort of covered pretty much every area."
