Kevin McCloud is perhaps best known for presenting Grand Designs, but despite being a TV personality, he has previously revealed that he doesn't see himself a celebrity, and so very rarely speaks publicly about his family.

However, in a 2013 interview with The Telegraph, Kevin opened up about his parents and brothers, and about his upbringing. Speaking about his early life, he explained: "I was a paperboy at the age of 11. My starting salary was 10s a week. I had to pay my way as a kid. We all had to.

"All of us – my two brothers and I – are very driven. But my parents weren't particularly strict; in a way they were very liberal Sixties parents. They had themselves escaped, I think, the rigours of the religion when they left the rural seaside Yorkshire town they'd grown up in."

Speaking about his mum and dad, he added: "They were ambitious. There was a sense after the war in the Fifties that, if you tried, you could make a life that was completely separate and distinct from anything you had experienced and anything your parents had experienced."

Kevin shares two children with his ex-wife Suzanna, who he split from in December 2019, as well as two children from previous relationships. His son Hugo followed in his dad's footsteps and now works as an architect.

He joked about his dad back in 2015 on Instagram after sharing a snap of Kevin on a London Underground billboard, writing: "That feeling when you step on the tube after a few beers and dad is looking at you all disapproving with his arms crossed." Kevin's other son, Milo, 22, is a keen skier, while little is known about his daughters Grace, 31 or Elsie, 18.
