BBC drama Life has received glowing praise from viewers at home thanks to its gripping plot and star-studded cast, in the form of Alison Steadman, Adrian Lester and more. But another familiar face from the acting world popped up during Tuesday evening's fourth episode of the drama – and you may just recognise her.

Actress Emily Head made her debut in the drama series, which is a spin-off of Doctor Foster, playing the role of Julia – the pregnant fiancée of Neil, who is keen to make amends with his ex-wife Belle (played by Victoria Hamilton).

After an awkward discussion between the former husband and wife, Belle reluctantly accepts Neil's offer of money to help her out as he admits that she did not get enough in the initial divorce agreement.

Viewers will recognise Emily from Channel 4 comedy The Inbetweeners, in which she played the role of Carly D'Amato and later reprised her role for the movie. In recent years, Emily is perhaps best known for playing Rebecca White in Emmerdale.

The actress joined the soap in 2016 and had a regular role for two years before her character moved away. It seems acting runs in Emily's family, as her dad is actor Anthony Head – perhaps best known for his role as Rupert Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and as Ed Price in Netflix's The Stranger.

Elsewhere in Life, Gail (Alison Steadman) has made the decision to leave her husband Henry, despite his terminal illness, after coming to a realisation that he has been undermining her and holding her back throughout their marriage.

It was also revealed that Saira (played by Saira Choudhry), who was beginning a relationship with David (Adrian Lester), had in fact been in a relationship with David's late wife Kelly. The twist in the storyline was revealed as Saira sat down to look at photographs of the previous couple's time together, leaving the episode on a dramatic cliffhanger.
