Pose star MJ Rodriguez has become the first transgender actress to win a Golden Globe award. The historic moment came on Sunday when it was revealed on the Globes' Twitter account that she had picked up Best Television Actress in a Drama for the FX series.

Following the news, MJ took to social media to share her joy and send a message to the LGBT+ community, writing: "OMG OMGGG!!!! @goldenglobes Wow! You talking about [a] sickening birthday present! Thank you! This is the door that is going to Open the door for many more young talented individuals. They will see that it is more than possible. They will see that a young Black Latina girl from Newark New Jersey who had a dream, to change the minds others would WITH LOVE."

"LOVE WINS," she continued.

Loved ones, family and fans were quick to comment, with many reminding the actress of how "deserved" the award was and congratulating her on the gong.
MJ took to social media to share the news
The series, which concluded with its final season in 2021, follows New York City's African-American and Latino drag ball culture across two decades with interwoven stories of the HIV and AIDS crisis in the country.
The 2022 Golden Globes looked very different this year, with no red carpet, no streamed ceremony and no celebrities in attendance.
Only select members and grantees of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association attended the celebration at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, with winners being announced via social media.
She played Blanca Evangelista in the FX series
West Side Story was the first winner of the night, with Ariana Debose picking up Best Supporting Actress in a film, and her co-star Rachel Zegler later winning Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy.
The film was nominated for four awards and it picked up three in total including Best Film - Musical/Comedy.
Jane Campion’s tense western The Power of the Dog with Benedict Cumberbatch also won three awards including the major Best Director and Best Film - Drama awards, while Succession was the big TV winner, taking home three of a possible four.
