Savannah Guthrie made her long-awaited return to be alongside her beloved Today co-hosts - but not in the way viewers had anticipated.
After making a full recovery from her second dose of COVID-19 fans were gearing up for her smile to light up their morning back in the studios.

However, Savannah's first post-illness appearance was somewhere very different.

The mom-of-two was joined by the Today team, including Hoda Kotb, Jenna Bush Hager, Dylan Dreyer and Al Roker at The Paley Center for Media where they celebrated the 70 year anniversary of their show.
Al shared a snapshot of them on the red carpet on Instagram and captioned it: "An absolute honor to share the stage at @paleycenter last night as they recognized the 70th anniversary of @todayshow."

Fans adored seeing the team together and commented: "Wonderful photo," and, "I love this show".
Savannah and her co-hosts celebrated 70 years of Today
Savannah tested positive for COVID-19 just ahead of Mother's Day meaning she had to spend it away from her two children, Vale and Charley.
She still made the most of her special day though and shared their virtual antics on social media.

Savannah woke up alone to a surprise bunch of flowers delivered outside her bedroom door and spent the morning Facetiming her children who were in the other room.
Savannah had to spend Mother's Day apart from her children
The mom-of-two alerted her fans to her positive test by posting a photo of it online and captioned it: "So this happened - again! Covid +, air filter on 'turbo' and it will be an isolating Mother’s Day for this mama!!! I feel fine, just slight cold so far. Thankful to be vaccinated!"
Although she was annoyed she had caught it for a second time, she wasn't feeling unwell with it and was able to actually get a little rest and relaxation.
She divulged that she'd enjoyed some yoga, relaxed with a face mask and indulged in lots of enviable fragrances and bubble baths.
Savannah wrote: "Five days of faffing around: sleep, crazy face mask, rediscover yoga, sleep, another face mask, wordle, read, organize, sleep, quordle, binge watch, reheat pizza, scalp treatment (real bored), FaceTime, sunsets and counting the moments til reunion with my sweet babies!!!"
