Sophie Rundle is back on our screens! Leading the cast of After the Flood, the Peaky Blinders and Gentleman Jack alum fronts ITV’s brand new thriller. Taking on the role of PC Joanna Marshall, Sophie’s latest role has her working alongside Philip Glenister, Lorraine Ashbourne and Nicholas Gleves. But, did you spot her famous fiancé and fellow actor, Matt Stokoe, in the show?
As of 2019, Sophie is engaged to her “best friend” and frequent collaborator, Matt. Best known for his roles in Misfits, The Musketeers, Bodyguard and the Netflix series Cursed, he and Sophie met on the set of Jamestown in 2016.
Joining his fiancé once more in After the Flood, Matt plays Sophie’s on-screen husband, Pat Holman, this time around. Speaking exclusively to HELLO!, Matt raved about their time together on set. “This is the fourth thing we've done together so we've definitely got a shorthand and we're not the kind of couple anyway that just goes around all over each other,” he said.
“Since 2016, we've on and off worked together so we know each other as colleagues almost as well as we know each other as partners so we have a way of working. It’s not a case of being professional or being discreet or anything like that. It’s just I go to my trailer, you go to your trailer and then when we get home, we don't talk about lines because otherwise it just engulfs your life."
Matt noted: “We have our work heads and we have our home heads and never the two shall meet and that just seems to be the way that it works for us.”
On the topic of their upcoming nuptials, Sophie, 35, has told You magazine that they're in no rush to tie the knot. "I’m not a very good bride-to-be. I poked my head into the world of big wedding productions and was, like, 'Nope! We’ll figure something out,'" she said. "My parents have seen me in a wedding dress with big hair on screen so many times, they're just not that interested."
In the meantime, Sophie and Matt are enjoying a long engagement and welcomed their baby son back in April 2021. Sharing the lovely news on Instagram, Sophie wrote: "Our little boy, who arrived safely and happily over the Easter weekend and changed the game forever. My little egg. My overflowing, grateful heart."

More recently, she followed up with a birthday post after the youngster turned two, writing: "Two whole years of my heart existing on the outside of my body. Two whole years of exhaustion and deepest love. Funny little friend, all wild hair and magic."
