The acclaimed acting duo is a big get for the franchise, which launched with the modern-day Kevin Costner vehicle Yellowstone and has become a bona fide hit for the platform. 1883 starred Tim McGraw and Faith Hill and followed the first generation of the Dutton family making their way West in the late 19th century.

1932 will introduce a new generation of the Dutton family and will explore the early 20th century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition and the Great Depression all plague the Mountain West.

It remains unclear who Helen and Harrison will be playing, although the almost 50 year time difference means it probably won't be Faith and Tim's Margaret and James Dutton.

Their son John, who is played by child actor Audie Rick in 1883, will be in his mid-sixties in the new series and, as we know from Yellowstone, has taken over the running of the ranch from his father.

We also know that he has his own son, also named John (the father of Kevin's John Dutton III), and it seems like both will be central characters in the new story.

Helen and Harrison have been cast in unknown roles

It has been confirmed that during the upcoming fifth season of Yellowstone, "several" of Taylor Sheridan's new shows will be launched, including presumably 1932.

As fans will recall, prior to the premiere of 1883, viewers were introduced to the first-ever Duttons through an elongated flashback sequence in the opening episode of season four.
