Kris Marshall drops major plot hint about Death in Paradise spin-off

The actor appeared on The One Show to talk all things Beyonce Paradise

Kris Marshall has dropped a hint about the plot for his upcoming Death in Paradise spin-off series.

Appearing on The One Show on Thursday evening, the actor, who is adored for his previous role as DI Humphrey Goodman on the BBC murder mystery drama, was chatting about the new series Beyond Paradise when he teased what fans can expect from the plot.

Although he remained fairly tight-lipped, Roman Kemp and Ronan Keating were keen to get out as much information as they good. Kris explained: "The brilliant Tony Jordan wrote a couple of scripts and we got the spin-off."

He added: "All fans of Death in Paradise will [like it], it's very similar in its veins. So the main themes are the same, but it's very unique as well." We can't wait!

Kris Marshall appeared on Death In Paradise for three seasons

The Love Actually star, who appeared on the BBC series from 2014 to 2017, also hinted that, like Death in Paradise, the new show could feature some celebrity cameos.

When asked about any famous faces who could be appearing, Kris joked: "Well, I mean, apart from myself?" before adding: "None as of yet... but watch this space."

The premise of the show revolves around Kris' character, Humphrey, and his fiancee Martha, who is played by Sally Bretton, as they return from Guadeloupe to the UK.

The filming for Beyond Paradise begins imminently

The series will be set on the South West coast of Cornwall and Kris previously revealed to Digital Spy that filming was due to start imminently.

Meanwhile, fellow Death in Paradise alum Ben Miller has said he'd "love" to take part in Kris' show. When asked about potentially appearing in Beyond Paradise, Ben told HELLO!: "God I'd love to, is [Kris] really? That's so exciting, that's brilliant news!

"I'd love to, I mean it's Kris – don't forget your mates. It's exciting, really great, I wonder how that's going to work? Is he going to be on another Caribbean island? I look forward to that, that's really brilliant news."
