The actor first portrayed the part when he joined the cast of Death in Paradise in 2014, and has become a very recognisable face on our TV screens over the years thanks to his recurring role – not to mention his career-defining parts in My Family and rom-com smash Love Actually – but how much do you know about his life away from the screen?

The actor keeps a low profile and prefers to keep his personal life out of the spotlight, but the Love Actually star has opened up about his family life a number of times on previous occasions. Find out more about his family life away from his busy career below.

Is Kris Marshall married?

Yes, Kris Marshall is married to his wife Hannah Dodkin. It's not known how the couple met, but the pair began dating in 2010 before getting engaged in 2011. Kris and Hannah then went on to tie the knot in a wintery wedding in February 2012 in Kris' hometown of Wells, Somerset. In photos released at the time, the newlyweds were spotted kissing in the snow after they said "I do."

Together, Kris and Hannah are the proud parents of two children. After they got married, the couple went on to welcome their son, Thomas, and their daughter, named Elsie, and have resided in Bath ever since.

However, while Kris was filming scenes in the Caribbean for Death In Paradise, his family joined him on the Island while he was working. Kris did make a rare comment about fatherhood in a previous appearance on Lorraine while opening up about his decision to leave the BBC show in 2017.

"I realised I had to get my son to school. He was becoming a bit too Caribbean – he refused to wear shoes and would only drink coconut water and eat pineapple," he said, adding: "He was very good on the beach but not so good with Maths and English, so I decided that it was time to get him to school, so the show had to go really."
