If you're a Netflix subscriber, chances are you've watched or at least heard of the brand new political drama, The Night Agent, which has reached the top spot on the streaming site's trending shows.
The series has a gripping plot and a great ensemble cast consisting of Luciane Buchanan and Hong Chau, but it is lead actor Gabriel Basso who has caught plenty of fans' eyes.
The American actor plays the role of Peter Sutherland, an FBI night agent who finds himself protecting a key witness while investigating a potential conspiracy plot at the hands of an inside mole in the White House. Check out the video below to get a glimpse of what the series has in store.

Who is The Night Agent star Gabriel Basso?
Gabriel Basso, 28, is an American actor who was born in St. Louis, Missouri. Although the star is enjoying big success from his role on the Netflix show, Gabriel is no stranger to acting.

© DAN POWER/NETFLIXFans may recognise the star from his previous credits since Gabriel has been acting for a long time, and he even started out as a child actor. His big break came in 2010 when he landed a regular part in the comedy-drama series, The Big C, as Adam Jamison.
Before that, he did have a number of small roles in popular TV shows like iCarly and Eastwick. In 2011, he landed a role in the Hollywood movie, Super 8, as Martin Read.

Although he began acting from a young age, the star did have a bit of a break from acting before landing a role in the 2020 film, Hillbilly Elegy, and his part in The Night Agent. Gabriel told Netflix's Tudum: "I sort of tuned out. I took a big break and I enjoyed old spy movies."
On landing the very physical role as Peter Sutherland, he said: "I tend to stay in shape in real life and I fight a lot in real life and I train a lot. What was difficult is that stunt fighting is sort of its own martial art. Everybody that I worked with was super accommodating and helpful to me because I wanted to do all the fights myself."

Gabriel's current relationship status is not currently known as he prefers to keep his private life away from the spotlight, but the actor is a proud father-of-one. Gabriel shared on his Instagram that he had welcomed a daughter in 2020 when he wrote: "There's a new Basso on the planter."
