Ted Lasso fans have been quick to discuss the latest episode, '4-5-1', which revealed that Richard AFC pro Colin Hughes is gay and in a relationship, but keeping it a secret from his fellow team members and away from the public eye.
In the episode, Colin introduces his partner Michael as his "wingman" while meeting the team at Sam’s new restaurant. However, reporter Trent Crimm, who is writing a book on the football team, spots the pair kissing outside, leading viewers to wonder whether he will 'out' the footballer in his tell-all book.
Despite worries about Colin’s private life being heartbreakingly exposed against his will, eagle-eyed fans of the show have theorised about how his storyline will end happily, pointing out a throwback moment to season one where Nate cruelly tells Colin that he doesn’t "inspire or move people".
They wrote: "Imma say it again now but the fact Nate said that Colin was 'not inspiring people' and that by the end of the season when he will be out as the first Welsh and 2nd premiere league gay player to be out he is gonna inspire so many people."

One person replied: "I love this arc. The writing on this show is spectacular, so I am 99.9999% they will do this perfectly and honestly." Another fan added: "They’ve been planting the seeds for while so I feel like they've got this well planned out. Just the pacing in this week's episode from the cold open, to the text, to his bf at the party, to the moment Trent saw them was done really well!"
