Chicago Fire star Taylor Kinney left fans heartbroken when it was announced that he would be taking a break from the popular procedural show. The actor's final episode aired in March in a storyline that saw Severide leave the Windy City for a prestigious OFI training camp in Alabama.

With Taylor away from the show, some viewers have expressed their concern that the annual fan event, One Chicago Day, may not take place this year in his absence.

For those unfamiliar with One Chicago Day, it's a Youtube fan event featuring interviews, games, and behind-the-scenes content from the cast of the franchise ahead of new episodes, which typically air the same evening. The event usually takes place upon the drama's return from a recent hiatus.

Considering One Chicago Day usually takes place around this time of year, some fans are worried that it may not go ahead at all in 2023.

Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: "I have a question. Are we going to have One Chicago Day this year? Like it was early April they did this last year?" while another added: "Is One Chicago Day happening this year? Because they haven't said anything about it and is it because of Jesse leaving the show and Taylor taking a leave of absence? #ChicagoFire"

A third person tweeted: "I am thinking in my head that One Chicago Day is not going to happen this year. Like last year it was early April, now it's April do they not want to do it anymore because of Jesse leaving and Taylor taking a leave of absence?"

NBC has yet to make an announcement regarding this year's event. However, considering there are still five weeks of One Chicago episodes yet to air, there's still time for the Youtube event to take place.

The status of the fan event isn't the only thing NBC has stayed quiet on as the broadcaster has yet to reveal any details regarding Taylor's return to the show. Some fans have taken to Twitter to express their fears that the actor may never reprise his role. One person wrote: "I really hope Taylor Kinney aka Lt. Severide will return to Chicago Fire," while another wrote: "Severide better come back!"

A third tweeted: "I just don't like changes to my shows too many people are leaving. Severide is gone [from] Chicago Fire. If he doesn't come back I don't know what I'll do."
