Sandra Bullock is arguably one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood, thanks to decades of memorable work in romances, dramas, comedies, and thrillers.

So it was definitely quite the surprise to the entertainment industry and her fans when she announced in 2022 that she would be taking a step back from acting. She elaborated that it was all because of her family, as she was entering "retirement" to be with and care for her kids, Louis, 13, and Laila, 11, with partner Bryan Randall.

However, will the Oscar-winning star be making a comeback anytime soon? While she hasn't declared her intention to return, she hasn't completely shut the idea down.

In an interview with FOX 5 New York while promoting The Lost City, her final lead-starrer before her step back, she joked that there is one project that would bring her out of retirement.

"Speed 3," she instantly stated, which her co-star Daniel Radcliffe immediately responded to with: "Oh, don't even joke about this."

The 58-year-old further elaborated: "I don't know, I literally have no answer," although quipped once more: "If Daniel directs me in Speed 3: Horsepower, that'll get me to leave the house."

The star's last project as a lead was "The Lost City"

Sandra's last project as a lead was 2022's The Lost City with Channing Tatum and soon-to-be-dad Daniel, followed by a cameo turn in Brad Pitt's Bullet Train later that year.

While she'd opened up about her intent to take a step back earlier that year, it was in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in June that she made her motive clear.

"Work has always been steady for me, and I've been so lucky," she said. "I realized it possibly was becoming my crutch. It was like opening up a fridge all the time and looking for something that was never in the fridge.

"I said to myself, 'Stop looking for it here because it doesn't exist here. You already have it; establish it, find it and be OK not having work to validate you.'"

Sandra further added: "I'm so burnt out. I'm so tired, and I'm so not capable of making healthy, smart decisions and I know it," while also explaining to Entertainment Tonight: "And I just want to be 24/7 with my babies and my family. That's where I'm gonna be for a while."
