Sally Nugent wakes up the nation most mornings on BBC Breakfast, presenting the show alongside her co-host Jon Kay.
While she's known for her illustrious career in journalism, did you know that the broadcaster made her acting debut in a BBC comedy series back in 2020?
Sally appeared in the football comedy show, The First Team, which ran for one series and followed the lives of three young players of a fictional Premier League football team. Watch her in the clip below.
The BBC journalist appeared in two episodes, making her debut in the opening moments of episode one as a newsreader, telling viewers that football manager Cesare (Paolo Sassanelli) "is certainly under pressure to deliver" following his team's recent loss.
Gary Lineker also made a cameo in the next shot, commenting on the game's results in the Match of the Day studio.
At the time of the broadcast, viewers took to Twitter to praise Sally's performance, with one person writing: "@sallynugent watching the First team. A very moving and finessed performance," while another added: "@sallynugent Great to see you on the first team."
Iain Morris, who co-scripted the comedy, also took to social media to thank the journalist, as well as Gary Lineker and talkSPORT hosts Paul Hawksbee and Andy Jacobs, for their appearances. "The First Team features a number of cameos that I've not had a chance to say thank you for in person, but enormously grateful to @sallynugent and @GaryLineker and @tSHandJ for their time and good humour," he wrote, adding: "Thank you so much."
