Where is Kevin McCloud now and when is Grand Designs back?

Kevin McCloud is one of the nation's favourite designers thanks to his hit Channel 4 show Grand Designs, which he has hosted since it first launched back in 1999. 

The show sees Kevin investigate some of Britain's most ambitious self-building projects, following determined individuals as they attempt to design and construct their dream home. 

The programme's latest season aired back in October last year, so what is Kevin up to at the moment and when will the series be back on our screens? 

Where is Kevin McCloud now?

Kevin is likely preparing for Grand Designs Live, which is an event taking place in both London and Birmingham this year that "features the latest in ideas, innovation and home project guidance," according to the website.

Kevin will be taking part in the event, leading educational seminars and debates alongside designers from the series, as well as other industry experts.

The London event kicks off later this month on 29 April and runs until 7 March, while the Birmingham show is held over four days from 4 October. 

When will the new series of Grand Designs be released?

While Grand Designs has not yet been renewed for another season, there's nothing to suggest that the programme isn't coming back. We imagine Channel 4 will make an announcement in the coming months. 

Considering new episodes usually arrive in autumn each year, fans should expect to see Kevin back on their screens in September/October time.

Filming for the show can take a long while, as Kevin explained during an interview on This Morning in 2021. "Some projects take five years, some take three, others take 18 months," he told hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby. 

"They're ready when they're ready. Consequently, our series could be anywhere between four and nine projects, depending on what's done."
