Phoebe starred in the show until 2010 and moved on to shows including The Musketeers and Dickensian before landing the lead role in Bridgerton. She recently confirmed that she wouldn't be returning to the hit drama for season three, telling Variety: "I did my two seasons. I've done what I wanted to do with that character and she had a great arc.

"If they ask me back in the future, who knows? For now, I am just really enjoying having new experiences and making films and we'll see what happens."

She added that she would "potentially" be joining the cast in the future, adding; "I'm just excited to watch as a viewer."

So when can we expect season three? The series has yet to confirm an airdate just yet, with the spin-off show's planned release taking place in May. However, it has completed filming, and so fans can expect that it will likely be released in late 2023 or early 2024. The show has also been confirmed for season four!

Phoebe began her career on Waterloo Road

Netflix released the news via the character Lady Whistledown in a letter which read: "Esteemed members of the Ton, it seems we have a rather special announcement. Bridgerton shall return for seasons three and four. This author shall have to pen more ink."

Shonda Rhimes added: "This two-season pickup is a strong vote of confidence in our work and I feel incredibly grateful to have partners as collaborative and creative as Netflix. Betsy [Beers] and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue bringing the world of Bridgerton to a worldwide audience."
