Months later, it was announced that Torrey would be joining season three of The Vampire Diaries. Cast as Dr. Meredith Fell, the recurring role had Torrey acting opposite her husband, who portrayed Stefan Salvadore, in several scenes.
During a 2012 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Torrey revealed what it was like working with her husband. "I think he's such an excellent actor, and I don't just think I'm being biased," she said.
After co-starring in The Vampire Diaries, Torrey and Paul also carried out press for the show, and in 2013 they appeared together at Bloodlines Con Brazil. Joining Matthew Davis and Nathaniel Buzolic on stage for a live Q&A, Paul had fans in hysterics after he made some romantic comments about Torrey.
Speaking about one of the show's major season four storylines, he admitted: "I didn't tell anybody, I didn't even tell Ian [Somerhalder] or Nina [Dobrev], it was like a big secret. I told Torrey. I tell Torrey everything. I love you, Torrey."
However, in July 2013 it was later revealed that the couple had decided to divorce after two years of marriage, with one of Paul's reps confirming the news to People. The official comment stated that "Paul and Torrey have decided to amicably split. They will continue to remain good friends."
