Beyond Paradise has been renewed for a second season and a Christmas special, the BBC has confirmed. Since its debut in February, the show has already become one of the UK’s most popular dramas of the year, drawing in 8.7 million viewers.
Lindsay Salt, the Director of BBC Drama said: “I’m beyond excited to return to Shipton Abbott for both a Christmas special and second series of Beyond Paradise. The response from BBC viewers to series one has been a joy to see, and like its millions of fans I’m intrigued to find out what new mysteries lie in store for Humphrey, Martha and the team.”

Alongside the show’s renewal, it has been confirmed that all of the original cast members will return for the upcoming instalments, including Kris Marshall, Sally Bretton, Zahra Ahmadi, Dylan Llewellyn, Felicity Montagu and Barbara Flynn.
Following the structure of season one, the second series will also consist of six 60-minute-long episodes and is scheduled to premiere in 2024. Meanwhile, the Christmas special will air during the 2023 festive season.
Drawing its first season to a close, the finale of Beyond Paradise concluded with an epic crossover episode on Friday night. Following Humphrey Goodman, as he visited his old stomping ground in Saint Marie to clear his head and consider his future in Shipton Abbott, the finale also featured a puzzling case.
The synopsis for the episode reads: "The Shipton Abbott police team are faced with a seemingly impossible case to crack. A burglary seems clear-cut at first when the thief's unusual calling card matches that of local criminal Atticus Styles (Spencer Jones), but when the forensic evidence comes back, it all points to another suspect.
"The only problem is the suspect, Hayley Collins (Hannah Traylen), was locked up in a police cell by PC Kelby Hartford (Dylan Llewellyn) at the time of the crime. Meanwhile, still reeling from recent events, DI Humphrey Goodman's mind is elsewhere as he considers his future in Shipton Abbott."
