If last night's Succession episode left you shocked, mouth agape, on the edge of your seat… you are certainly not the only one. The surprise extends to the main victim of the latest episode's major plot twist, Brian Cox's Logan Roy.
While only the third episode out of the ten slated for the fourth and final season of the hit HBO Max show, it has already left the titan that is, was, Mr. Roy, keeled over in a private plane bathroom – on his way to Europe on business in lieu of his eldest son's Manhattan wedding – and dead on arrival.
As the news sank in with fans – and the Roy children – that Logan was in fact, dead, the stakes, and the Waystar Royco succession plan, were immediately altered. And once again, we are only three episodes in.

In an interview with the New York Times published shortly after the shocking episode, Brian, recalling the moment creator Jesse Armstrong told him about his character's fate, said: "He called me, and he said, 'Logan's going to die,'" adding: "And I thought, 'Oh, that’s fine.'"
However, he admitted: "I thought he would die in about Episode 7 or 8, but Episode 3, I thought… 'Well that's a bit early.'"

Nonetheless, he added: "Not that I was bothered," and in fact praised the decision, telling the outlet: "It was courageous because everybody loves the show. Always leave the party when it's at its height, not when it's going down."
While that may ring true for Logan Roy, it isn't necessarily so for the award-winning stage and screen actor, who at 76, while arguably at the height of his decades-long career, isn't leaving the industry anytime soon.

Succession is now behind him, and he is already booked and busy. "I'm doing a lot of other stuff," he said, revealing: "I'm going back to the theater. I'm going to hopefully direct my first movie in my grand old age. And I'm doing Long Day's Journey Into Night in London [in spring 2024]. So I know what I'm going to be doing probably till next summer."
While he sympathizes with distraught fans, and said: "I think it's going to be hard next week for a lot of the audience because they're going to miss Logan," he leaves them with an inspirational note.
"[Succession] is a very special work that I've done, and it's given me so much, and I'm really eternally grateful for it. But it's only a stop on the way. It is not the destination, as far as I'm concerned."
