Unstable is a new Netflix comedy starring father-son acting duo Rob Lowe and his son John Owen, and has generated plenty of discussion online since it landed on streaming platform last month.

The eight-episode series has been praised by fans for its humour and many are making the same comment about Rob's comedic performance. Viewers were quick to state that his appearance as the eccentric Ellis Dragon is reminiscent of his character in the adored sitcom, Parks and Recreation, in which he played the excessively positive government official, Chris Traeger.

Taking to social media, a number of viewers made the same comparison between tthe characters. One tweeted: "This show is growing on me. It's giving me Parks & Rec vibes, especially since Ellis is basically Chris lol. It'll need time to iron out the kinks so hopefully Netflix don't cancel it #unstable."

A second echoed this, writing: "If you like Rob Lowe you'll love #unstable on @netflix Very Chris Traegeresque @KeanuTrades."

A third added underneath a video showing the trailer: "I am so going to watch this! Getting major 'Parks and Recreation' vibes here! Also, can't wait how the father-son duo translates from real to reel!" A fourth even joked: "It's like the Chris Traeger spin off we all have wanted!!"

For those who are yet to tune in, Unstable focuses on Ellis Dragon (Rob Lowe), an admired businessman who likes to do things a little differently. The synopsis describes him as a "universally admired, eccentric, narcissist-adjacent biotech entrepreneur working to make the world a better place".

It continues: "He's also in emotional free-fall. His son Jackson Dragon is… none of those things. Can Jackson save Ellis and his company and salvage their estranged relationship while also doing what may actually be impossible: escaping the shadow of his larger-than-life father?"

As mentioned, the West Wing actor's real-life son, John Owen Lowe, plays his on-screen son Jackson, who grows tired of his dad's unconventional ways of working. The cast also features Fleabag actress Sian Clifford, Emma Ferreira as Ruby Rosario and Aaron Branch as Malcolm.
