The Big Bang Theory spin-off plot

The plot is currently being kept under wraps, however, it has been announced that The Big Bang Theory's creator Chuck Lorre is working on the series. The project is currently in the early stages of development, so it's unlikely that details will emerge for a while.

It's believed that the spin-off will feature one-hour episodes, and feature a completely new cast. However, there is potential for some of the original Big Bang Theory cast members to reprise their roles.

It's hardly surprising that The Big Bang Theory universe is expanding. Across its 12-year run, the flagship show attracted millions of viewers, with the season 12 finale drawing in a whopping 18.52 million.

The Big Bang Theory was also the recipient of several awards during its run. In 2009, the series was crowned the best comedy series by the Television Critics Association, while Sheldon Cooper actor Jim Parsons won the award for individual achievement in comedy. It also bagged the People's Choice Award for Favorite Comedy in 2010 and 2016.

The Prequel series, Young Sheldon, has also enjoyed great success and was recently greenlit for a seventh series by CBS. In 2022, it was revealed that Young Sheldon was the most-watched broadcast TV comedy for the 2021-2022 Season, beating its competitors at ABC, Fox, NBC and the CW.
