Kelly Ripa experienced multiple wardrobe malfunctions during her second Live With Kelly and Mark show with her husband Mark Consuelos as her new co-host.
The couple, now co-anchors, welcomed Dancing With The Stars professionals Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson Chmerkovskiy, who instructed them in the jive dance.
However, when Mark dipped his wife onto his knee, the 52-year-old's hot pink dress split at the seam.
"Did the entire back of my dress rip?" Kelly asked, quickly standing and jokingly adding: "It's just a breakaway dress!"
Mark reassured her, saying: "Nope! Nope! Just a little bit," and showing her the torn string.
Although they managed to learn the remainder of the routine, Kelly admitted to another mishap during a commercial break. "Well, so far I've torn my dress. I lost a shoe," she quipped.
Jenna responded lightheartedly: "That's what dance is all about...take it off!" Despite these setbacks, the foursome successfully executed the choreography.
However, the rest of the show faced challenges as well. Since launching Live with Kelly and Mark following Ryan Seacrest's departure, Kelly and Mark have encountered considerable criticism.
Some viewers expressed discomfort with their on-screen dynamic. One Twitter user wrote: "Kelly and Mark look uncomfortable together, it's hard to watch. Mark as a fill-in cohost was fun to watch. This isn't fun to watch anymore. Need Ryan back."
Another viewer described their rapport as "painful" and admitted to changing the channel immediately.
In contrast, some fans defended the couple, suggesting they were simply nervous and needed time to adjust to their new roles.
Similar reactions followed their debut show on Monday, with some accusing Kelly of talking over and interrupting her husband.
The Riverdale actor announced in February that he would replace Ryan, 48, who revealed his sixth season on Live would be his last.
Page Six reported that ABC had been courting Mark, who married Kelly in 1996, to join the show since the summer of 2022.
