After a challenging period in her life, Kelly Clarkson is bouncing back and feeling fantastic as she shares her emotions through her new music.
On a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, she opened up about the "anger and sadness" she felt while writing her latest song, Mine, from her upcoming studio album, Chemistry.
The album is about the ups and downs of a relationship, thought to be inspired by her divorce from Brandon Blackstock, set for release in June.
The singer admitted that the songwriting process allowed her to "let it out," and she feels "great now."
The 40-year-old singer revealed that the album encompasses "a whole arc of an entire relationship" because "you can't diminish something to just one feeling."
She performed her new single and shared that the lyrics were self-evident in conveying her emotions.
In the heartfelt track, Kelly wears her heart on her sleeve, exposing her vulnerability as she sings about her broken heart.
The American Idol winner released two singles, Mine and Me, on Friday, expressing the complexity of chemistry in relationships through her music.
In an Instagram post, Kelly wrote about the power of chemistry, saying: "Having chemistry with someone is an incredible, and overwhelming, feeling.
“It's like you have no choice in the matter. You are just drawn to each other. This can be good and bad."
She went on to describe the album as a journey through various stages of grief and loss, with each song representing a different emotional state.
This marks Kelly's first album since her divorce from her ex-husband Brandon.
She filed for divorce from the 46-year-old music manager in 2020 after almost seven years of marriage, with the divorce being finalized two years later.
The couple shares a son, Remington "Remy" Alexander, 7, and a daughter, River Rose, 8½.
