Catherine Zeta-Jones' time in historical fiction may have just come to an end, as one of her latest projects just met a sudden end.
According to Deadline, it was announced that Disney+ would not be renewing National Treasure: Edge of History for another season.
The series was a continuation of the popular film franchise which centers around a network of treasure hunters who travel all around the country to protect important artifacts in American history.
The show is "an expansion of the National Treasure movie franchise told from the point of view of young heroine Jess, a DREAMer in search of answers about her family who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about the past and save a lost Pan-American treasure."

Catherine played Billie Pearce, the apparent primary antagonist of the Disney+ revival, a wealthy black market antiquities dealer with a cunning streak.
Also starring in the now canceled series were Lisette Olivera, Zuri Reed, Antonio Cipriano, Jake Austin Walker, and Jordan Rodrigues.
The Oscar-winning actress frequently promoted the show on her social media, including the blonde bob she donned for her character's transformation, and the one season was a hit when it was first released.
The news was shared right before the weekend, coming not long after a special celebration in the Zeta-Jones/Douglas household for the youngest of Catherine and Michael Douglas' kids, Carys.

The birthday girl wrote back and commented: "Thank you mommy! I love you so deeply- thank you for the wonderful mother you have been for these 20 years."
The video even featured a clip from Carys' childhood and had fans all choked up. "Cutest mother and daughter duo," wrote one, while another added: "She's the spitting image of you."
