Netflix has been on a roll with its political thrillers in recent weeks. First, The Night Agent starring Gabriel Basso went down a treat with fans, and now The Diplomat is the latest offering from the streaming giant which has landed comfortably in the number one spot of trending shows.
And given its popularity, it's perhaps unsurprising that fans have been sharing their thoughts online and many are in agreement about its brilliance and are desperate for a second season.
One fan wrote on social media: "Just finished watching #TheDiplomat on #Netflix. One word, Brilliant!! Hopefully, the second season will come!!!" A second echoed this on Twitter, stating: "Dear @netflix, need season 2 of #TheDiplomat right now, please and thank you."
A third wrote: "How good is #TheDiplomat. After a long time, Netflix makes a show that grips me every second." As a fourth said: "#TheDiplomat is one of the best Netflix specials in recent times. The writing and the acting, by the entire cast, but especially Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell, are outstanding. Already looking forward to second season! @NetflixUK."

For those who are yet to tune in, the synopsis for the Netflix show reads: "Kate Wyler is the new US Ambassador to the United Kingdom. She was supposed to go to Afghanistan.
"She's great in a crisis zone. In a historic home… less so. War is brewing on one continent and boiling over on another.
