Al Roker has been working as an anchor and weatherman since the 1970s – for NBC since 1978 and for Today since 1996 – and while he has certainly come a long way since then, his co-stars won't let him forget his roots!
During the latest installment of the Today Show on Tuesday, April 25, his co-hosts on the long-running morning show were left in awe over a resurfaced clip of the beloved weatherman, during his early years at NBC affiliate WKYC in Cleveland, Ohio.

You can watch the video below, and just as his co-stars Hoda Kotb, Sheinelle Jones, and Craig Melvin did, marvel at how different – and so retro! – the star looks in the clip.
The archival footage is from 1979, taken at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, and was shared on the show in honor of World Penguin Day, which the Today stars were celebrating with the video of Al with the flightless birds, and with a visit from a pair of African penguins to NBC's studio 1A.
