And Just Like That… Kim Cattrall has confirmed that she is returning to the Sex and the City franchise. The actress will appear as her iconic character, Samantha Jones, for the season two finale of Max’s revival of HBO’s Sex and the City, And Just Like That… Following Variety's bombshell scoop on Wednesday the actress took to her own Instagram on Thursday, reposting the trade publication's story with a hilarious caption. "Happy Pride..." she wrote with emojis for the rainbow flag, the trans flag, and a plain ol' rainbow, in a nod to the legendary queer fanbase for SATC and, specifically, for Samantha. (Pride Month began today on June 1.)

As reported in Variety, Kim will only appear in one scene, and did not see or speak to the stars of the series, including Sarah Jessica Parker, or showrunner Michael Patrick King. The scene will be a phone conversation between Samantha, who had moved to London, and Sarah's Carrie Bradshaw, although it is reported that Kim will be seen on screen.

In season one of the Max reboot, it was revealed that Carrie and Samantha were estranged, and in the season one finale they arranged to meet in person to reconcile after the death of Carrie's husband, Mr. Big (Chris Noth).

The news comes after the Golden Globe winner famously refused to reprise her role as Samantha amid reports of friction between the show's stars.

The hit show was rebooted in 2021

In 2018 their feud went public when, following the tragic death of Kim's brother, Sarah commented on a social media post to offer her condolences.

In a statement posted to Instagram, Kim responded: "I don't need your love or support at this tragic time @sarahjessicaparker... My mum asked me today, 'When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?' Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now. Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona."

Speaking about her three co-stars in 2017 on Piers Morgan's Life Stories, Kim also added: "We've never been friends. We've been colleagues and in some ways it's a very healthy place to be."

The star said that the relationship had become "toxic" between her and Sarah, and hit out at being portrayed as a "diva", adding of Sarah: "I really think she could have been nicer. I don't know what her issue is."

In response, Sarah told People: "I never responded to the conversation Kim had with Piers Morgan, where she said things that were really hurtful about me. So there was no fight; it was completely fabricated, because I actually never responded. And I won't, because she needed to say what she needed to say, and that is her privilege."

Season two of And Just Like That... will also see the return of John Corbett as Carrie's ex-boyfriend Aidan Shaw for a substantial, multi-episode arc, as well as  Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis as Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York.

In the original series, furniture maker Aidan was a character with whom many fans believed Carrie should have married; she instead wed Mr Big, but at the end of the first episode of And Just Like That, he died and the show followed her grief as she rediscovered life as a widow.
