Alison Hammond is being supported by fans, after publicly addressing a critic on X, formerly known as Twitter. Taking to the social media platform on Monday, the TV presenter responded to a viewer who had found themselves "uncomfortable" after noticing Alison's watch on This Morning

"#ThisMorning I love watching @AlisonHammond but with the cost of living affecting us all, I find it uncomfortable seeing her wearing what looks like a Rolex," penned the X user.

Directly addressing the criticism, Alison promptly replied, "I wish!! It's actually a Michael Kors Watch my late mum bought me and it cost her £185 of her hard earned money. It means more to me than any Rolex. Sorry you felt uncomfortable."

Following her response, Alison has received endless support from fans

Following the interaction, Alison was met with an outpouring of support from fans. "Check and mate. Well done Alison on a very measured response to a ridiculous tweet," wrote one. "What a special gift from a special lady. Hope you can always treasure it, much love to you, Alison," added another.

Meanwhile, a third commented: "Even if it wasn't a gift from your mom, you work hard for what you have, don't apologise for it. You don't owe anyone an explanation."

Alison's response has also been praised by a number of celebrities too. Among them, actor John Barrowman shared: "If @AlisonHammond wanted to buy and wear a Rolex it's her money, her prerogative, no one else's business. Well done on your wonderful response and God bless your mum for her priceless gift to you Alison."

"I'm just so sad my mum's not here to see it. She really wanted to know more about her family. And this is all on her side, it's mad," she said. "I do talk to her all the time. When she died, it felt like a different sort of relationship with her – more spiritual. I know she's there," reflected Alison.

Alison on The Great British Bake Off

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Alison noted that her new presenting gig on The Great British Bake Off was "meant to be", as her mum was an especially huge fan of Prue Leith.

"My late mum adored Prue," explained Alison. "She had all her books and admired her work in South Africa. She'd be very proud that we've become mates. It's like this was always meant to be."
