Savannah Guthrie called for her Today Show co-star Carson Daly to be banned from Hoda's Morning Boost during Tuesday's show after he made a jokey comment about one of the videos included in the segment.

Savannah and her co-star Hoda Kotb were joined by Carson, Craig Melvin and Al Roker for the daily segment, which highlights good news and heartwarming stories.

The hosts were watching a video that showed a groom, who was overcome with emotion on his wedding day, bursting into tears during the ceremony.

Whilst the video was playing on the screen, Carson remarked: "I hope those are happy tears," sparking laughter from Craig.

Hoda and Savannah were less than impressed, however, with the latter responding: "You may be excused. We're over here crying!"

Defending himself, Carson said: "I just say what you're thinking, that's what I do. His life is going to be different!"

Hoda chimed in: "We were not thinking that, you were thinking that!" before Savannah jokingly suggested Carson be banned from the remainder of the segment. "Can we ban him for the boost for the rest of the day? You're a morning bummer!" she said. Watch the moment in the video below.

While the Today Show hosts may have lively debates on-air, it's no secret that they share close bonds off-camera.

During an interview with HELLO! earlier this year, Dylan Dreyer revealed that the team are a close family.

"We are a tight-knit family on the Today show," she said. "What you see is what you get."

Similarly, Hoda and Savannah have both echoed this sentiment and previously spoke about their appreciation for one another.

Savannah told HELLO! last year: "We feel grateful every single day, I know we feel grateful for this partnership and getting to come and do a job that is literally fun and to get to do it with a good friend who you trust so much and to just hold hands and get to do this together every morning - I never get over that. I still can't believe it came true."

Hoda added: "I am working with Savannah which is a job that you can only dream of having."

In a separate interview, Hoda shared an insight into her sweet off-air friendship with Savannah, revealing how much the pair rely on each other as working moms.

"I have some nights where I really messed up and I know I did," she told Good Housekeeping last year.

"And I come in the next morning [thinking], I feel terrible for what I did. What was I thinking? Why did I think that was going to work? They went to bed crying. Like, I don't want that to be me. But then I talk to Savannah. She'll say, 'That was my Wednesday,' it makes you feel less alone."

Savannah and Hoda have co-hosted the show together since 2018, when Hoda replaced Matt Lauer, whose contract was terminated after allegations of both sexual harassment and assault came to light.
