To recap:
- Oppenheimer was the night's biggest winner, walking away with seven prizes, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, and Supporting Actor. Poor Things follows with four wins (including Best Actress), while The Zone of Interest takes home two.
- Check out more of the night's winners here
- Ryan Gosling had the night's biggest moment, though, with his performance of "I'm Just Ken," involving HUGE production value, celebrity backup singers, and a parade of original Barbie masks
- Several winners received their first ever Oscars, including Christopher Nolan, Robert Downey Jr., Cillian Murphy, Wes Anderson, and more
Best Visual Effects
And the Oscar for Best Visual Effects goes to...Godzilla Minus One, specifically Takashi Yamazaki, Kiyoko Shibuya, Masaki Takahashi, and Tatsuji Nojima.
The group made a splash on the red carpet when they appeared with a tiny gold Godzilla figurine, who even wore a bowtie to be as snazzy as everyone else on the carpet (and it was). Their win was clearly a crowd favorite, receiving enthusiastic cheers from the audience.
Best Film Editing
And the Oscar for Best Film Editing goes to...Oppenheimer, specifically Jennifer Lame, becoming only the second win so far for the movie that's expected to dominate the night.
Taylor Swift is sponsoring the Oscars?
Not a commercial for The Eras Tour as the Oscars go to commercial... Taylor Swift is really coming for the entire world.
Jon Batiste performs
Grammy-winning singer and performer Jon Batiste put on a beautiful show with his Oscar-nominated track "It Never Went Away" from the documentary American Symphony, which captures a year of his personal and professional life.
Best Documentary Short Film
And the Oscar for Best Documentary Short Film is...The Last Repair Shop, specifically for Ben Proudfoot and Kris Bowers.
Best Documentary Feature Film
And the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature Film goes to...20 Days in Mariupol, specifically for Mstyslav Chernov, Michelle Mizner, and Raney Aronson-Rath. Director Chernov made a powerful speech, celebrating Ukraine's first ever win in the category while decrying Russia's invasion of the country, leaving the audience somber.
Poor Things Party
Nadia Stacey, the British make-up artist who won the Oscar for her work on Poor Things shared where the party is at tonight -- with Poor Things' cinematographer Robbie Ryan, who she said throws the best parties.
Find us there with the champagne.
Best Cinematography
And the Oscar for Best Cinematography goes to...Oppenheimer, specifically Hoyte van Hoytema, who has frequently collaborated with Christopher Nolan and was last nominated for one of his movies, Dunkirk.
Best Live Action Short Film
And the Oscar for Best Short Action Film goes to...The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, by Wes Anderson and Steven Rales. While acclaimed director Anderson wasn't in attendance to accept, he finally takes home his first Oscar after eight nominations, beginning way back in 2001.
Becky G lights the stage on fire
Becky G took to the Oscars stage for a surprisingly brief performance (seems like a running theme looking at Jon Batiste's performance, no?) of "The Fire Inside" from the Eva Longoria-helmed film Flamin' Hot, penned by perennial Oscar favorite Diane Warren, and suitably hit the notes against a backdrop of flames.
Wes Anderson misses his Oscars moment
Wes Anderson has never won an Oscar after eight nominations but he has finally won for Live Action Short - and he's not even there to collect.
I feel very sad for Wes.
Best Sound
And the Oscar for Best Sound (after a dig at the hilarious Madame Webb courtesy of John Mulaney) goes to...The Zone of Interest, specifically Tarn Willers and Johnnie Burn.
He's. Just. Ken.
Ryan Gosling shut down the ceremony in totality with his bombastic rendition of "I'm Just Ken" with co-writer and producer Mark Ronson, starting his set from the audience to a blushing Margot Robbie and Billie Eilish.
He took to the stage and was joined by other members of the Ken-dom in the Barbie movie, including Ncuti Gatwa and Simu Liu, before taking his show to the audience, singing with his co-stars (and an enthusiastic Emma Stone), and ending with a parade of original Barbie masks and a guitar solo from none other than Slash.
SPEECHLESS
I need two to five business days to recover from all that Kenergy.
Best Original Score and Best Original Song
Wicked stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande presented the Score and Soundtrack awards, with the Oscar for Best Original Score going to...Oppenheimer's Ludwig Göransson, as he has done all season long.
And the Oscar for Best Original Song goes to...Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell for "What Was I Made For?" from the Barbie soundtrack, the second Oscar for the sibling duo after No Time to Die's title track.
In Memoriam
The members of the film and TV industry we lost in the past year were honored with a touching In Memoriam segment with live orchestration and and an operatic arrangement, honoring the likes of Glenda Jackson, Carl Weathers, Michael Gambon, Alan Arkin, Harry Belafonte, Matthew Perry, and many more.

And Best Director goes to...
And the Oscar for Best Director (presented by LEGEND Steven Spielberg) goes to...Christopher Nolan for Oppenheimer, a win that has been coming all season long, but a well deserved one all the same!
The filmmaker has received eight nominations throughout his career and finally takes a prize home (and is touted to take home one more as producer on Oppenheimer, a favorite for Best Picture). The Oscars has ENDED EARLY
It's an early Easter miracle!
And that's my show! (for now)
Thank you for sticking around with us for tonight's Oscars race! We hope you had fun, we most certainly did!
While I'm wrapping up on updates from the show (well, it's over, there's only so much I can add), we will have some more coming in from the winners room, so keep checking this space for more! But for now, from the Dolby Theater, signing off!
The winners room has finally warmed up...
Or am I just numb now?
We're still waiting for (hopefully) Emma Stone, Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr and the crew of Oppenheimer to join us...
Christopher Nolan is discussing his history teacher...
Turns out Christopher went to school with a journalist in this room, and now they are discussing 'Trotsky Turnball,' their History teacher.
Amazing.
Christopher Nolan shares his biggest challenges on Oppenheimer
"I think as with any story you have to go through a process of looking at all the details... and trying to settle on what is practical to tell," Christopher said of the challenges he faced in what to leave out and what to keep in.,
"I was guided by my initial emotional reaction.. but one particular issue in that struggle [was] there were facets in all the characters, there were so my characters who could have a film made about their life, so it was a constant struggle."
Cillian Murphy seems a bit overwhelmed
Cillian notoriously isn't a fan of the "Hollywood" of it all, but he answered several questions, and seemed genuinely overwhelmed.
"It's really really meaningful to me," to be the first Irish-born Oscar winner, he said, "and I don't know if I said this in my speech - I cant remember what I said - but I did want to say, that I think in Ireland we are great at supporting artists and we need to continue to support the next generation, and that's all I have to say."
An update on Emma's broken dress
"They sewed me back in! I genuinely think I busted it during 'I'm Just Ken,' Ryan just blew my mind and things happened!"
