Leo will be taking on the role of Bridget's younger love interest Roxster - as she comes to terms with the death of Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). In the trailer, the dashing younger man can be seen saving Bridget from a tree before the pair go out on a date - and joke about Leo's age.

Mad About The Boy opens four years after Mark's death and sees Bridget, now in her 50s, reenter the dating world as a mother of two children.

The movie synopsis reads: "Bridget is alone once again, widowed four years ago, when Mark was killed on a humanitarian mission in the Sudan. She’s now a single mother to 9-year-old Billy and 4-year-old Mabel, and is stuck in a state of emotional limbo, raising her children with help from her loyal friends and even her former lover, Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant).

"Pressured by her Urban Family —Shazzer, Jude and Tom, her work colleague Miranda, her mother, and her gynaecologist Dr. Rawlings (Emma Thompson) — to forge a new path toward life and love, Bridget goes back to work and even tries out the dating apps, where she’s soon pursued by a dreamy and enthusiastic younger man (White Lotus’s Leo Woodall). Now juggling work, home and romance, Bridget grapples with the judgment of the perfect mums at school, worries about Billy as he struggles with the absence of his father, and engages in a series of awkward interactions with her son’s rational-to-a-fault science teacher (Chiwetel Ejiofor)."

All we know about Bridget Jones 4

Back in 2022, author Helen confirmed that she was ready for her 2013 novel Mad About the Boy to hit the big screen. "Yes I'm working on it and I really hope it will happen," she told RadioTimes.com. "Every film that gets made is a miracle – it’s really difficult to make films happen and to make them good. But I’d love to see it on the screen."

Hugh Grant has opened up about what to expect on The Graham Norton Show, saying: "It’s absolutely the best (book) and I think it’s very funny and very, very moving. I’m not in a lot, I did a week’s work, that’s it ... But when you see the film, you’ll be very moved."
