Happy birthday Kate Garraway! The popular Good Morning Britain host celebrated her 50th live on air on Thursday – and there were some surprises in store for the birthday girl. Co-presenters Susanna Reid and Ben Shepherd were keen to mark the landmark occasion, and shared a clip of the star's funniest and most memorable moments, as well as a funny photo taken when Kate was a teenager, showing her with very short brunette hair.
Holding her head in her hands, Kate giggled as she watched the montage, while Ben teased: "Are we still pretending this didn’t happen years ago?" Kate replied: "People thought I was 50 a year ago. It's give me a year to adjust and rejoice." She then told viewers: "How lovely to be here to celebrate with you. 50 years of banging on about nonsense. Thanks for putting up with me!"

The biggest surprise of the morning came towards the end of the show, when unsuspecting Kate was joined in the studio by her children, Darcey, 11, and seven-year-old William. Clearly shocked, Kate joked: "You should be at school! I had no part of this!" The two youngsters then joined their mum on the GMB sofa, along with Kate's parents, who presented her with a cake and flowers.
