My Best Friend's Wedding turned 20 this week, and the romcom has become a firm favourite over the years!
The story follows Julianne (Julia Roberts), a no-nonsense food critic who becomes increasingly desperate as she attempts to derail her best friend's wedding (with the help of her vivescent editor) after realising that she is in love with him herself. Full of singing (with a terrible karaoke performance from Cameron Diaz!), humour and with an unusual ending for the genre, the film has come to be considered an absolute classic.
The cast of the film have had amazing careers since their roles in the box office hit, but how much have they changed over the years? Put on the movie's most memorable song, I Say a Little Prayer (For You), and click through our gallery to see how the stars of the movie look two decades later...
Christopher Masterson played Michael's little brother, Scotty, in the film. He had a hugely successful career following the film after landing the role of Francis in Malcolm in the Middle.
Carrie Preston played Mandy Newhouse in the film, and is quick to join in with George's rendition of I Say a Little Prayer (For You). Carrie has since gone on to star in True Blood as Arlene, and as Elsbeth Tascioni on The Good Wife.
Rachel Griffiths played Samantha Newhouse, a twin who like to gossip (and sing) with her sister. The Australian actress was already well-known for her role in Muriel's Wedding before the romcom, and went on to become a Golden Globe winner for her role in Six Feet Under.
Rupert Everett stole the show as Julianne's shameless editor and friend, George, who embarrases her by pretending to be her fiance in an attempt to make Michael jealous. Rupert went on to star in Miss Peregrine's Home for Perculiar Children and Stardust.
Cameron Diaz played Kimmy Wallace in the world, Michael's perfect fiancee who befriends Julianne despite being secretly worried about her close relationship with Michael. The 1997 romcom was just of Cameron's amazing career, and she went on to star in Charlie's Angels, Bad Teacher, and is the voice of Princess Fiona in the Shrek franchise.
Dermot Mulroney played Michael O'Neal in the film, Julianne's devastatingly handsome best friend who, despite holding a torch for her, falls in love and marries Kimmy Wallace. Since My Best Friend's Wedding, Dermot went on to star in The Wedding Date, Big Miracle and the popular TV show New Girl.
Julia Roberts played Julianne, a food critic who realises that she is in love with her best friend at the same time he tells her he is getting married to another woman. As such, she attempts to get the marriage to fail by any means necessary. Julia became an Oscar-winning actress just three years after the romcom for her role in Erin Brockovich.
