Les Miserables' leading ladies show off party looks at New York Premiere

December 11, 2012

We were still reeling from the glittering world premiere of Les Miserables in London. But leading ladies of the new musical movie, Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried, stole the spotlight with their stunning red carpet beauty looks leaving plenty to sing about in New York. We're used to seeing Anne in feminine couture floating dresses by the likes of Valentino, with similarly ethereal makeup to match, but the actress experimented on Monday with something a touch more dark and daring.

Taking to the red carpet in a black floor-length Tom Ford gown featuring a draped, low-cut back, Anne couldn't have looked more different to Fantine, the destitute young lady whom she plays in the movie. The Les Miserables star also transformed her character's chopped locks into a clean, fresh cut fixed with a smooth side-parting. And by securing her new hairstyle close to the face the overall effect gave off a vintage tone with 1920s chic. Having previously worn Tom Ford to the Oscars awards in 2011, Anne completed her red carpet beauty look this year by taking inspiration from the designer's own cosmetic campaign. With makeup focusing on deep bordeux shaded lips, flawless skin and strong brows, the actress topped off the Ford-effect with her effortlessly elegant demeanour.

Co-star Amanda Seyfried looked just a stunning, putting a pop of spice into her sugar-plum fairy look with dark blends of smouldering bronzed shadow. Swept upwards in the same direction as her hair – which was pulled back into a plaited ballet-style bun – Amanda's smokey eye makeup accentuated the contours of her cheekbones for a striking effect.  Matching the embellishments of her stunning, strapless Alexander McQueen gown the blonde beauty also added a touch of glittering, gold cream shadow pressed over the top of the lids and at the corners of her eyes for a wide-eyed look. The 27-year-old, who plays Cosette, the daughter of Anne's character in Les Miserables, kept a neutral palette for her lips with a simple, sheer peach gloss and wore simple gold studs for a finishing accessory.
