'I've had some pretty outrageous nail art': Lily Allen talks beauty with HELLO! Fashion

An award-winning singer, mother actress and presenter, Lily Allen can now add nail art design to her ever-growing list of accomplishments. The 29 year old often shares photos of her quirky nail art on her Instagram, so fans were delighted when she revealed she has collaborated with Elegant Touch for nail art collection Lily Loves Nails styled by Elegant Touch. HELLO! Fashion caught up with Lily to find out her make-up and beauty secrets…

I saw those cool city silhouette emojis and wished they had London ones. Suddenly I was thinking about what you'd want if you had London ones, and then we brainstormed in a meeting about the nails.

For the past year I've really been into glitter and neon, but I wanted to take certain elements of that and make them a bit more accessible, and a bit more subdued.

This girl Naomi, who does my nails, did some amazing ones where she actually cut up parts of one dollar bills, took the pyramid with the all-seeing eye at the top, and set them into the nail with some bling, before writing 'Sam' in letters.

I love the Selfridges make-up hall. Sometimes I just go there and spend loads of money on new stuff. I also like to indulge in facials, but I don't get as much time to do them as regularly as I'd like.

The MUJI ones are really key for me because they're thin. They're great if you dip them in eye make-up remover, because then I can just adjust my eyeliner flicks. Also, I love Carmex lip balm.

I use a cleanser and exfoliator every night. I use ZO Skin Health Exfoliating Cleanser, then SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic, and then ZO TE-Pads to exfoliate. I also have a Clarisonic brush. I know a great beauty therapist, Doctor Zamani at the Cadogan clinic. I never really know what she's going to do, she plays around with my skin, tells me what she thinks, and then what's the right course to take. She's really good.

If I haven't had time, I just do them in my bedroom so I don't have to go to the gym. I do mostly squats and sit-ups, but not really with weights. I prefer high repetition stuff like punching the air, and I really like things that are high speed.

I'm sentimental. All my tour stuff, vintage clothes, things I've been photographed in but probably wouldn't wear again… it's all in a storage unit. I save it all for my kids really, to bribe them with later in life! Both of my wedding dresses are in there too.
