Chanel set to open first spa at the Ritz in Paris

May 29, 2015

Chanel has rocked the beauty world with the news that the brand is set to open its first ever spa. The iconic fashion house's new beauty sanctuary will be hosted at the Ritz in Paris – a particularly poignant location for the label, as the glamorous hotel was home to the label's founder Coco Chanel for over 34 years.

Coco Chanel resided at the Ritz Paris for over 34 years

"The strong bond that unites Chanel and the Ritz Paris was initiated by Mademoiselle Chanel who lived 34 years at the Ritz," read a statement from the brand. "Located in the Ritz Club, 'Chanel au Rtiz Paris' will provide women with a unique sensorial and customized experience."

Chanel will also pay homage to its founder Coco by opening a new suite in the opulent hotel, based on the interior of the designer's original appartment.

"The story linking Chanel and the Ritz Paris would not be complete without the opening of a new Coco Chanel suite," continued the statement. "Inspired by the one she originally occupied and by the décor she loved so much."

The Ritz Paris will be the home of Chanel's first ever spa

There is no doubt that there are already strong ties between the Ritz Paris and Chanel, and not just because Coco lived there. WWD reports that the iconic Chanel No.5 bottle is loosely modelled on the way the buildings are arranged in Paris' Place Vendome – the square on which the hotel sits.

Although further details of what the spa will include have yet to be released, it is reportedly set to open at the end of the year, marking the end of the hotel's three-year renovation programme. There has been some speculation as to whether Chanel will open a spa at the other Ritz hotels around the world, or whether this will be a stand-alone project.
