Alexa Chung has spoken candidly about trying to portray a positive body image for her fans. The 31-year-old admitted that while she "would love to look like Daisy Lowe", she is happy with her body and wants her followers to feel the same about themselves.

Alexa Chung confessed she "would love to look like Daisy Lowe"

The British beauty admitted that she often reads comments left on her social media accounts telling her "how scrawny I look or how gross I am", and that it can be difficult for her to address her critics without promoting certain body types.

"I'm asked to comment on it in interviews and it's really difficult to know what to say because I want to be able to promote a healthy body image but I don't know," she said during an episode of her Future of Fashion web series. "I would love to look like Daisy Lowe, but I don't… but I'm happy with how I look. Equally, I don't want to use this as an example of how young girls should look."

Alexa's message comes just days after model Gigi Hadid took to Instagram in a heartfelt post to address the "mean comments" made about her body by the media and public. The 20-year-old confessed she decided to post after realising she had "let the negativity get to me a little".

The star spoke candidly about trying to promote a healthy body image

"No, I don't have the same body type as the other models in shows," she wrote to her 6.4 million followers. "No, I don't think I'm the best at any given show. Yes, I want to have a unique walk but I also know I have to improve."

The American beauty also pointed out that leaving the comments wouldn't change anything.

"Your mean comments don't make me want to change my body," she said. "They don't make me want to say no to the designers that ask me to be in their shows, and they definitely don't change the designers opinions of me."
