Plus size model Luzmaria Vargas is the new face of MAC Cosmetics - the Californian beauty is the first woman to be selected as part of the beauty brand's MACnificent ME campaign. In a behind-the-scenes video of the photoshoot, Luzmaria opened up about being plus size during an emotional speech in which she revealed she hoped the images could help "women out there that won't express themselves" because "they're overweight".

"This whole opportunity is going to change my life in so many ways," she said. "My culture's more like, finger-pointing. This has happened to me – we're at a party and they're like, 'Oh, um let's take a picture', and then they tell me 'Can you take the picture?'"
"It hurts because some people just think because you're overweight – I'm sorry – you don't have feelings," she added, breaking down in tears.
However, Luzmaria revealed she was excited about the campaign because it proved you don't need "a gorgeous body".

She continued: "But with this I'm going to prove them wrong like, 'Hey, look, I don't have a gorgeous body. I mean, I don't think I'm beautiful. But look at where I'm at. I didn't need a gorgeous body – it was really the inside that counted and I don't need to be size 2, skinny, I'm here. I'm here.'"
After her makeover, the brunette beauty revealed she hoped the campaign would help other women facing the same body image issues.
"It feels so good because I know there's so many women out there that won't express themselves for the fact that they're overweight but if I did it they can all do it," she explained, beaming at the camera. "And I hope that this helps someone out there that is just like, tucked in their room, don't want to go out or don't want to show themselves out there. So… just go for it!"
