As we move into thecolder months, we tend to strip back our face make-up and turn our attention tobolder, braver lip colours. This A/W sees the return of some old classics(think traditional oxblood and berry tones), along with the introduction of somemore unexpected (but still totally wearable) shades.
Here are our toppicks…
1) Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick in Out Loud, £19
Take your pumpkin spice latte obsession one step further with this amazing burnt orange shade from Smashbox. The liquid matte formula dries down in a matter of seconds and with built-in primer oil it won’t bleed or flake away throughout the day.
2) Lipstick Queen Saint Lipstick in Bordeaux, £22
If you’re scared to rock a darker lip, take baby steps with this deep wine hue by Lipstick Queen. The formula itself is super sheer and the colour pay off is more of a light stain effect, so nothing too scary here.
3) Dior Rouge Dior lipstick in Ambitious Matte, £26.50
The matte lipstick trend isn’t going anywhere this season, but they can be uncomfortable on the lips. We’re happy to report that thanks to hydrating mango butter and sea fennel you can skip the lip balm with this one.
4) MAC Liptensity Lipstick in Stallion, £17.50
Black lipstick is the ultimate Halloween accessory. For a more daytime appropriate take on the trend, try patting over your favourite lipstick as a top coat to darken up the look.
5) Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Color in Parisian Red, £25
If you’re a red lips girl through and through, we recommend this yellow-toned red from Bobbi Brown’s new city collection. Inspired by chic Parisian women, team with Breton stripes and plenty of pastries!
6) Tom Ford Winter Soleil Lip Foil in Seadragon, £39
This new metallic, foil-effect formula from Tom Ford is a total game changer in our books. With as much sparkle as a lip-gloss with none of the stickiness, this is going to see us through the party season and beyond.
