Looking for ways to thicken up your hair without spending loads of money and hours on a transformation? Well, search no further than here for some amazing expert tips and tricks to give the illusion of full, luscious locks. The style you choose to rock can play a big part in your appearance, with celebrity stylist Neil Moodie, who is also Viviscal Brand Ambassador, telling us: "In general if you have finer hair, don't grow it long. The longer it gets, the weaker the hair gets and so it can tend to look lank and straggly on the ends. There's nothing worse than long hair that doesn't look healthy."

This is also what Norris Ogario, Creative Director at Ogario London, suggests, insisting fine hair needs "layers and texture". He also broke down the points you should bring up with whoever is styling your hair, insisting: "The three areas you should discuss with your hairdresser are the parting, the crown, and the fringe. A small adjustment to the parting to one side or a different angle can create lift."

A change of parting is what A-list hairstylist Phil Smith, who offers amazing products to thicken things up including Phil Smith BE GORGEOUS BIG IT UP Volume Boosting Shampoo and Conditioner, says is key too.

"It's always good to move where you wear your parting as years of wearing it in exactly the same place can leave it flat, so moving the position you wear it will make your hair appear like it has more body and volume than it really does," he reveals.

He also suggests regular scalp massages as a way to stimulate hair follicles, involving moving fingertips in a light, circular motion around the scalp, focusing on one area at a time.

Don't shun a natural bristle brush when tending to dry hair, with Phil, who has over 25 years of experience in the industry and owns his own brand and Smith England Hair Salon, adding, "Contrary to what people say, too much brushing will not cause you to lose hair, so go ahead and stimulate those follicles!"

Andrea Gardner, founder of Andrea Cameren Hairdressing, suggests getting your hands on thickening and volumising products and backcombing or using protects to boost the roots to make hair look thicker. Ogario London offers plenty of options, from the Styling Mist for Volume to the Restore and Shine Hair Masque to give a little TLC.

There's always the option of simply adding more strands, as Andrea notes, "People often think that hairpieces and extensions are only for added length but they can be used to add fullness too."
