There's no time like the present to ditch your go-to manicure colours and opt for some sparkle. Actress Daisy Ridley recently modelled the metallic trend when she matched her black sequin Monse dress with a shiny silver manicure as she stepped out at the premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
If you're keen to try out the look for yourself, Mavala nail expert Lynn Gray is certain there's no such thing as too much sparkle in the lead-up to Christmas. "Coming up to the party season we are seeing a massive increase in the demand for glitter and sparkly nails," she shared. "There are so many different types of glitter now and so many different looks that can be achieved at home. My favourite is Mavala's New York, a shiny grey colour, layered with a coat of Mavala's Pure Diamond varnish - it offers a truly eye-catching effect."

When it comes to sporting sparkly nail polish, Lynn recommends always applying a base coat, as this will not only protect from discolouration but it gives the polish something to adhere too. It's also a good idea to top off your chosen varnish with a thin layer of top coat. "Re-apply the top coat every two days as it gets worn away with everyday life, and can leave the polish exposed and more likely to chip," the nail expert said.
In addition to glitter nail polish, Lynn noted that she believes multiple feature nails will soon become a fast favourite among the fashion set. And "squoval" or square nails with an oval tip are the season's most sought-after manicure shape. "Following the engagement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the new trend for nail shape is definitely short, natural manicures. When announcing their engagement, Meghan showed up her stunning diamond ring with a nude polish and super chic 'squoval' nails," she added.
