Jessica Simpson is opening up about an at-home skincare treatment that has been one of the secrets to her flawless, glowing complexion: red light therapy. "I have fewer wrinkles at 40 than I did at 38!,” the Open Book author told Shape about the treatment, which helps reduce the onset of fine lines.

“During this pandemic, I've gone down a skincare rabbit hole,” she continued. “I'm obsessed with doing red light therapy treatments at home. I place the anti-inflammatory device everywhere on my body, including my scalp, stomach, and boobs.”

The red light therapy sessions have also helped Jessica battle her eczema flare-ups, which got worse after she gave birth to her 21-month-old daughter Birdie. "I've dealt with eczema since I was a kid. But after having Birdie, I had such bad flare-ups that I wouldn't even show the pictures of me holding her to my friends," the fashion mogul said.

So, what is a red light therapy device exactly? It’s a device that delivers red low-level wavelengths to your skin to treat skin issues, such as wrinkles, acne, and scars, among other conditions. That “stimulates the production of collagen, elastin, and fibroblasts,” Dermatologist Dr. Rhonda Klein told Glamour. That can lead to younger-looking skin, diminished scarring, and enhanced muscle repair.
We tracked down two ways to try it at a home: a splurge-worthy mask that emits red and blue light, and a budget-friendly red light spot treatment.

One look at Jessica’s skin will show you it’s worth a try. The mom of three showed off her glowing complexion right at the end of last year, as she shared a bare-faced selfie. “The maze of quarantined holiday Motherhood has knocked me on my butt...well for the next 5 mins at least. Ha,” she captioned the snap.
