From Drew Barrymore at the Golden Globes to Corrie’s Michelle Keegan at the Soap Awards, it’s easy to see all the prizes this season are going to big, beautiful hair. Here’s our pick of the best products to help build that body beautiful
Paul Labrecque Volume Shampoo, £16, from Selfridges or beautyexpert.co.uk, is our first pick. It’s expensive, but it’s a huge bottle that lasts for ages as you only need a tiny amount to lather. it's filled with a blend of avocado, basil, hops and lemon extracts to remove excess oils that weigh hair down at the roots and to give extra lift. It’s a time saver, too
And it’s complemented by Paul Labrecque Volume Condition Detangling Protein Spray, £14, to be applied before blowdrying, you really don’t need to use a conditioner with this shampoo. There’s an additional Volume Style Root Lifting Spray, £16, that’s great, too.
John Frieda Collection Luxurious Volume Thickening Blow Dry Lotion, £5.49, from supermarkets and chemists, is also a good addition to your styling stash. Spray into the roots for just a burst of lift without making hair sticky. It doesn’t affect shine, either.
Also one to note is Kerastase Nutritive Mousse Nutri-Sculpt, £17.50, from professional salons; call 0800 316 4400 for stockists. For full-on body, apply the mousse allover hair and comb through before blowdrying. It gives maximum volume, even on fine hair.
And finally, Batiste Dry Shampoo, £1.99, from supermarkets and chemists. When all else fails, dry shampoo thickens by coating hair with a fine powder. It does dull hair slightly, but it also mops up oils so is ideal for hair that’s looking lank.
