Make sure that your hair is as glamorous as your festive wardrobe this Christmas with tumbling, tousled curls – we're thinking along the elegant lines of the Duchess of Cambridge and Cheryl Cole, the face of L'Oreal's haircare range. Having won the title of "most envied hair", Kate's hairstyle has even earned itself a name – the Chelsea Blow Dry – after the stylish part of London where her favourite salon is situated. But if you can't afford these weekly treatments, don't worry, it's an easy look to recreate at home.
For tousled curls that are perfect for both day and night, begin with a box of sectioning clips, a pair of medium sized conical styling wands and thermal-protecing styling products. First, rough dry the hair using a root-boosting styling lotion to add volume, then, starting at the front, take inch-sized sections and wrap them around the curling tong from roots to ends and secure with a clip. Now work through the whole head. When complete, leave for ten minutes and, taking out the clips rub a few drops of serum into your hands, running your fingers through the curls to separate and leave them looking gorgeously glossy.Once in place, Paul Edmonds, ambassador of Shu Uemura, advises to keep the shape by lifting the hair with your fingers and spraying underneath with Shu Uemura Sheer Lacquer before fixing the top layers.
For a showstopping evening do, complement your LBD with vintage waves – a staple for Kelly Brook's glamorous look.Natalie Turner, who is part of Paul's expert team at his eponymous luxury salon in Knightsbridge, suggests prepping the hair with L'Oreal TechniArt Plii and blow drying into the hair. Tong sections in opposite directions with medium sized tongs so that light hits the hair in alternating sections, and comb hair out using a large tooth comb. Finish using a finishing oil for added shine. As with all hairstyles, practise makes perfect. But don't be daunted by the fiddly process because it’s worth investing the time – plus – it's fun!
