The hair and beauty looks on the Chanel autumn/winter 2014 catwalk mirrored the playful atmosphere as models including Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevingne walked around a giant supermarket set.Make-up was kept fairly natural, except for the eyes which were accentuated with neon-bright eyeshadows and eyeliner.Dubbed ‘Supermarket Chic’, hair was slicked back and tied up, however the ponytail was where the real playfulness of Karl Lagerfeld’s creations came through.
The ponytails consisted of long, dreadlocked hair, with lots of volume and texture to contrast the sleek hairstyle on the top of the head.Bright coloured woven hair extensions were loosely braided into the hair, giving the look a My Little Pony feel.Karl is known for creating jaw-dropping sets, with previous displays including an iceberg made of real ice, and a giant hay-barn.
The atmosphere at the show was fun-filled, as models made their way around the supermarket, picking up Chanel-branded food including haute Ketchup and ‘Coco’ cereal. After the presentation, guest Rihanna joined model Cara to play with one of the trolleys on the set, as well as filling it with other props.
