Katy Perry has dyed her hair 'slime green'.

The singer updated her fans by showing off her daring new hue on Instagram. She has kept her fringe and roots her signature black but dyed the rest of her locks varying shades of green.

"SLIME GREEN FOR SPRING by my bb's @neeenaboo & @brantmayfield at the @mcmillansalon," she captioned the shot.

Katy recently told E! News that she was planning the transformation. "I've wanted to go slime green for a long time," she said.

"It's spring time and I think it's time to freshen up my look. I'm really excited about slime green, but I hope my hair doesn't fall out."

Talking about the style, the singer said, "I kind of cut my bangs in haste and now I want them."

Katy is no stranger to experimenting with her hair colour. She is a natural blonde but usually sports black hair and has shown off colours including pink, blue and purple in the past.

The 29-year-old recently admitted that since splitting from John Mayer in February she has been pushing herself to try new things.

"I'm challenging myself again, pushing my limits as I do, as a Scorpion does," she said.

The Firework singer is about to go back on tour and confesses that she believes this will be the best tour so far.

"I'm very excited because I believe this is my best work yet as far as live performances. It's going to be just as colourful and fun as before, but it's obviously not based on candy. It's grown up . It's more mature."

She also added that she has decided to start a new, and expensive hobby.

"I'm going to slowly become an art collector," Katy told E! at MOCA’s 35th Anniversary Gala.

"Today, we had an all-day art crawl. We got to see some private collections from some people's homes and then we went to a couple of galleries."
