The mother-of-one shocked fans when she unveiled her new look on Instagram. "@Ambahhh turned me into a mermaid last night ... love all u girls @riawnacapri @nikkilee901 @ninezeroone xx," she captioned a photo of herself having hew new tresses styled. The American beauty has embraced her new look and showed off her quirky sense of humour in another snap where she is holding a box of sushi. "Mermaids luuh sushi #sugarfish," she quipped in the caption.

The new colour marks a drastic new look for Hilary, who rarely strays from her blonde locks. While she has been known to dye her hair brunette shades, it is the first time she has gone for a bright colour. However, Hilary is not the first celebrity to rock blue locks. Reality TV star Kylie Jenner turned heads last year when she rocked blue extensions, before chopping her hair into a bob complete with a black and blue dip dye.

Hilary's new look could be the start of a new chapter, coming just weeks after she reportedly filed for divorce from husband Mike Comrie, with whom she has a five-year-old son called Luca. The actress recently enjoyed a holiday with a few close friends, and turned heads when she shared a rare bikini selfie on her Instagram account. The singer was praised by fans for the selfie in which she encouraged mothers to embrace their bodies. "Hey #moms #westillgotit #loveyourbod," she captioned the candid snap.
